And so, the second session of Pétanque at HSCP took place on Friday on another rather warm morning even with the earlier start time.

Unfortunately, due to sickness there were only 21 players, so the teams were sent to the pistes as they arrived, rather than waiting around until everyone had got there. The HSCP team were on duty as attendants with jugs of cold water and to ensure fair play, although in some cases they took part as well.

From what was seen, lessons learnt from session 1 had no significant impact on the standard of performance for most of us! The usual highs and lows of exclamations rang out around the four groups, with results ranging from evens to minor whitewashes, but there was no rioting as we headed back to the Club house for tea & cakes.
