Twenty five of the expected 26 signed up walkers met at The Black Horse Findon, for coffee before heading off to Nepcote Green.

The weather looked somewhat unsettled but improved to blue sky & sunshine for most of our walk.

At Nepcote, the 7 (seven) short walkers continued on their circular walk into Findon village for a coffee stop before returning to the pub’ around 12:15pm.

The long walkers, including two 'juniors' (as in a Member's grandsons), continued on from the Green and uphill along the Monarchs Way, to the top of the Downs, where they were treated to a healthy energy bar. Precedent for future walks established!

The group split in two once again, with 7 (seven) turning north along the track, before turning west downhill past the old stables of Ryan Price & Josh Gifford into the village and back to the pub’ on time.

The rest headed south towards Cissbury Ring and climbed up onto the top to admire the super coastal views. Retracing our steps across the Downs, we followed the same route as the other (not so) long walkers, and down towards the stables. The group then became well stretched out with the result that at one point we were heading in three different directions, before arriving back at the Black Horse somewhat later than planned.

The 'fake news' that we had got lost, was grossly exaggerated as I was able to count them out and count them all back - nobody went missing!

The Black Horse provided their usual good fare and we all had a good walk.
