On the morning of 5th November, a total of 22 Members, spouses and Honorary Ladies met in the carpark of The Sir Roger Tichborne in Alfold Bars. After ordering lunches and a cup of coffee for many, we set off in 2 groups with 8 following a shorter walk of about 2 miles and 14 undertaking the longer route of 4 miles.

The shorter walk went West along the Sussex Border Path towards the Wey & Arun Canal at Gennets Lock and the along the canal before returning by the same path.

The longer walk started in the opposite direction, crossing the B2133 and following Pigbush Lanefor for just over a mile before turning North and then West towards Alfold village where the route crossed the B2133 for the second time at the Alfold Larder. From there it followed footpaths in open countryside back to the Sussex Border Path and the Pub.

Whilst no stiles were climbed, we had to duck under an electric fence and encountered an intransigent horse which blocked our way in a rather muddy gateway.

Those on the shorter walk returned in the dry but the walkers on the longer walk came home in light rain at times.

As on previous occasions we were treated to a drink and a good lunch at the end of our walks. In total 21 people stayed for lunch.
